Twenty years of serious automotive history runs underneath all of it, for money and love in roughly equal measure, the discipline so fundamental it registers less as a specialty than as a way of seeing. When the history is right the fiction knows it. When the machinery is accurate the story moves differently.
The other twenty years went into precision sales writing, technical documentation, product description, instructional content, ghostwritten opinion columns, gardening, and political philosophy. The disciplines inform each other more than they should and less than they do.(
The result is fiction with load bearing architecture, prose that knows what it’s doing and why, and stories that respect the reader’s intelligence while jumping off where history ends and myth begins.
